2012 Craftsman Premium [Heavy-Duty] Tractors – You asked for it, Craftsman will build it!

Home Channel News was invited to a lawn and garden product demo day hosted by Craftsman  in New York City on Nov. 15.  The Sears-owned brand rented out a converted garage and events space on 18th Street in Manhattan.

Home Channel stated, “One of the stars of the show was the new-for-spring CTX9000 Premium Tractor. This 30 horsepower model showed off its Advanced Tracking Control system over a short obstacle course. The MSRP starts at about $3,000.”

TodaysMower did a little research (Google can find anything) and this is what I found.

First, the Craftsman Professional line of tractors is gone. In it’s place Craftsman has developed a Premium Line that is much heavier and includes most of the features Craftsman tractor owners have been asking for for quite some time.

So far it looks like there will be 42, 46, 52 and 54 inch models. Two Craftsman heavy-duty Premium Yard Tractors, One Craftsman Premium Garden Tractor and One 30 hp heavy duty Craftsman Premium Garden Tractor with hydraulics and power steering.

They will all have the electronic fuel management and automotive style starting. No more choke.

Heavy-duty frames.  It looks like the frame is thicker and stronger than the current John Deere Select Series and Cub Cadet 2000 series tractors.

Traction control and differential lock on the 52 and 54 inch models.  This is great news! Many of us have hills and traction control is a welcome addition.  The transmission will automatically sense when a wheel is slipping and put more power to the other wheel.

Electric deck lift on all new models.

Low effort or power steering.

Heavy 10 and 12 ga. steel decks.

Tuff-Torq Heavy Duty Transmissions – sized for long life.

Quick Release Decks on most models.

Both the 52 and 54 inch deck models will accept ground engaging attachments. (That makes 3 heavy-duty Garden Tractors in the Craftsman Line)

The deck lift lever that everyone complains about is gone from the left fender.  Now even us old guys will be able to easily get on and off these Premium tractors.

All steel hoods, big tires and big seats.

These new Craftsman Premium Tractors have not been officially announced and the features may change a little, so stay tuned.

I’ll let you know when you can order your new tractor! In the meantime read more here: Craftsman CTX9500
