  1. i have an older 1998(?) craftsman lt-1000 model tractor with a snowthrower on it…..the tractor itself has seen better days….the snowthrower is model # 248439 and according to the sticker under the hood of my newer craftsman yard tractor it is the same model which is recommended for this tractor…..the thing is my newer tractor is a hydrostatic model(automatic) could you please help me understand how to switch it over because the manual model is engaged with an arm on the dash right near the steering wheel( to the left) and the newer tractor is engaged by an electric P.T.O. ANY SUGGESTIONS…

    • @robert, you may have to order a bracket or two for your new tractor from searspartsdirect.com. Use the discount code in the right hand column on this page to get a 10% discount on the parts. If you need a new manual go to managemylife.com and you can download it there. You need the complete model number of your blower. It looks like 123.123456.

Running the blower is the same. You used a lever on the old one and you will use the button on the new one. The pulley you connect to under the engine is in the same place. The drive belt with the new tractor will have constant tension because the electric clutch does the engaging not a lever action like on your old tractor. I don’t know if you need a new belt from the engine to the jack shaft. The manual will tell you if you do.
