2013 Update! As of March 1st I can’t find this mower for sale anywhere.
Executive Summary: Do you compost all of your yard waste? Do you have a small yard and a large garden? This may be the best mower for you. This mower has an integrated bagger and is designed to bag only. It will not side discharge. While dedicated bagging is not very popular in the U.S., this style mower is very popular everywhere else in the world. The 30 inch deck (one big blade) cuts well. This is a great mower for small, complicated, lawns. It is very easy to drive and gives you great visibility all around. The large deck and step through design will be easy for us old, stiff guys to get on and off.
This tractor has not changed for 2012.
The bagger is part of the mower, and you can dump it right from your seat. Just back up to your compost pile and pull the handle. The bagger is the same width as the tractor so you can easily go through small gates and landscape areas with it. You can remove the bag without tools and use the mower to pull light attachments like a fertilizer spreader and garden cart.
The price may seem high, but it includes the bagger. A bagger for a 30 to 42 inch mower can easily cost you $300. So if you figure that into the cost of this mower the price is actually very reasonable.

Retail Price: $1599.99 My Review:
This is a specialized mower. If you compost all of your yard waste for your garden this mower will save you a lot of time. Mow your lawn until the bag is full, back up to your compost bin, pull the lever and the bag dumps right on the pile. No getting off and on, no bags to lift and dump.
It has a pressurized B&S motor, with oil filter. While is does not have anti-scalp wheels the narrow track will give you a nice even cut. Sears says has a part number for a mulch plug but at the moment it is not available. Why? It is a major project to remove the integral chute and attach the mulch cover. It has a tube steel front axle but the way this tractor is balanced the axle will last the life of the mower. It doesn’t mow fast, but it mows well.
This lawn tractor will mow in reverse.
You will have to assemble the bag and adjust it so it seals up to the back panel on the mower. Once adjusted the bagging system works well.

I’m not going to go into a lot of detail on this review. If you have specific questions leave a comment below and myself or the readers will be glad to answer them. This is a great tractor and if you want one to last this should be at the top of your list.
Comfort – Ease of Use: Standard seat, easy to use operator controls, good field of view. While not as comfortable as the Yard Tractors or the New Premium Craftsman Tractors your butt won’t go numb. Owners say it is very nimble and works well for small yards. The 6-speed transmission takes some getting used to, but I like it better than the shifter on the Craftsman 28034.
Power For Mowing: This tractor has plenty of power for mowing and bagging every week. The big blade throws the grass clippings into the bag well. There is no mulch kit or mulching blade available at this time. Don’t expect one in the future.
Reliability – New to 3 yrs: This tractor is serviced by Sears. There have been a few issues with the build quality but most of them are the owner not adjusting the bag correctly. Learn to assemble and adjust the bag yourself. One thing to know – Sears takes the tractor out of the shipping crate but they do not “setup” the tractor. (John Deere dealers are the only retailer who does) You have to put gas in it, and run it for the first time. You may have to hook up the battery and charge it. If there is an assembly problem you call 1-800-4MY-HOME and a service tech comes out and fixes the issue. The store where you picked it up from or the delivery team does not repair the tractor.
Handling – Traction/Steering: This tractor has average traction and handling and is similar to all the other lawn tractors from the other retailers. I recommend you never use a mower like this on wet or drought-dry slopes.
Mow – Mulch- Bag: This tractor get high marks by owners for mowing but not for mulching and bagging. But, be aware this is not a “high-speed” deck like you will find on a commercial lawn mower. It mows perfectly at 2-3 MPH but don’t expect it to mow as fast as the tractor will go (5.5MPH) and give you the same results. With this tractor/deck you set the height of cut using a lever on the tractor.
