Hi Brian, The best trimmer on the market is the Sarlo ST6SP. It’s the only one I am aware of that’s self-propelled. Sarlo also makes the SST6. Salrlo is specifically designed for the tough grasses, palms and ferns in Florida.
Second is the DR Trimmers.
Third: Swisher 4.4 HP Honda Deluxe Gas String Trimmer.
The rest are all expensive but don’t last long.

Paul, I used you advice to purchase a TimeCutter ZTR this past spring and it’s been a great unit(except for the part where cross reference oil filters leak, but that’s another issue lol) So I have alot of fence and I’m 6’6″ and find that holding the weed eater for hours becomes painful. I was thinking about getting something like a walk behind string trimmer mower. Do you have any recommendations on models? I want to keep the fence rows trimmed (a few times a yr) And Also being in FL and the very wet summer we had the ditch stayed really wet and got too tall for the ZTR to cut easily. I was thinking the string trimmer might do well with trimming it down. Any thoughts? or Suggestions?
Thx
Brian
