Toro Introduces New TimeCutter® SW Series Zero-Turn Tractors
New product line combines the convenience of a steering wheel with zero-turn maneuverability
BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (Spring 2015) – Homeowners now have a new tractor alternative with Toro’s TimeCutter® SW Series zero-turn tractors. The new models combine the maneuverability and time-savings of a zero-turn mower with the familiar ease of a steering wheel and speed control pedal, much like a car or tractor.
“The TimeCutter SW Series opens up a whole new option for Toro customers who are more comfortable with tractor-style steering,” says Tanner Erickson, marketing manager at Toro. “These models give them the versatility they want while cutting mowing time significantly compared to a conventional tractor.” According to Erickson, Toro residential zero-turn mower owners surveyed from 2008 to 2012 reported an average time savings of 45 percent compared to their previous mower. Available starting in January 2015, the new TimeCutter SW Series features several groundbreaking innovations. The Smart Park™ braking system automatically stops the mower deck and sets the parking brake when the user gets off the mower — while keeping the engine running — so the user can get back on and continue mowing with a quick tap of the speed control pedal. It also sets the parking brake within five seconds after the mower is turned off so it’s easy to start every time, even if the power take-off (PTO) switch is accidentally switched on.
All TimeCutter SW Series models feature an intuitive steering wheel with a tilting steering column as standard, making it easy to get on and off the mower. Each TimeCutter SW model is also paired with an exclusive Toro® engine. Every Toro engine is designed and engineered specifically for the machine it powers to maximize performance. “This engine’s intelligent design and tight tolerances help it respond faster with more power when it’s needed,” Erickson explains. “It’s a perfect match that gives our customers the confidence they need to tackle their toughest outdoor tasks.” To further maximize performance, Toro V-Twin engines utilize a double-barrel carburetor that allows a stream of air and fuel mixture to be dedicated to each cylinder separately rather than both cylinders competing for one stream of air and fuel mixture. Additional features on the Toro V-Twin engine include the patent-pending Max-Flo™ self-cleaning airbox filtration system that helps keep dirt and debris out of the engine, as well as a convenient quick-drain oil hose. Just pop the hose out of its holder to drain the oil and pop it back in its holder when finished, no tools required. Another feature, Key Choice, allows the user to override the function that shuts off the deck when the mower is traveling in reverse. The user can remove the key to prevent others from mowing in reverse for added peace of mind.
The TimeCutter SW Series features a heavy-duty front bumper made of cast iron and steel for excellent durability. Models are available with 32″, 42″ and 50” four-inch-deep steel decks, or 42” and 50” fabricated decks. All come standard with a hitch for added versatility. A new modular attachment system will also be available from Toro next year, which will allow the owner to connect a variety of attachments (such as a bagger or a cargo carrier) to the TimeCutter SW, keeping the attachments off the ground and on the machine to maximize maneuverability.
