A transaxle is a case that contains both the transmission components, differential and the drive axles. We generally use transaxle and transmission interchangeably when talking about todays lawn tractors because all of them use one case to house the transmission, differential and axles.
A zero-turn usually has two transaxles – one for each driving wheel.

S of 32, Madill, OK. The PTO engagement handle has grown a lot harder to engage. What can I do to make it easier on my 6 yr old T2000 20hp 42″ deck? Do I need to disassemble to reach lube pts? thanks…

@Terry, I would troubleshoot this by disconnecting the cable from the deck. It’s just a simple clip. Then try it to see if the binding is in the lever/cable or the deck parts. You may need a new cable.
